The base must be sound, suitably dry and sufficiently flat. Plywood, levelling or other preparation may be needed.

Engineered boards combine a real timber wear layer with a layered core designed for stability. The right fitting approach depends on the specific product, subfloor, room conditions and manufacturer’s instructions.
Preparation, acclimatisation where required, expansion provision, setting out and thresholds all affect how the finished floor looks and performs.
