Why herringbone needs careful setting out
Patterned flooring is less forgiving than a standard straight-lay floor. The centre line and starting position influence symmetry, cuts along room edges, the appearance through doorways and how the pattern meets adjoining spaces.
The product also matters. Engineered wood, laminate and LVT herringbone systems can have different subfloor and installation requirements.
